A motorcyclist was killed in a horrific late-night accident in Devonport. The 53-year-old Plymouth man was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle incident. A passing driver called the emergency services at 12.50am yesterday after finding the man at the side of Park Avenue. The accident took place near Devonport Park and the traffic lights at the junction of Ferry Road. The victim, who has not been named, had been riding a green Triumph motorcycle. Police and the ambulance service attended the scene and the man was pronounced dead. It is believed he suffered severe head injuries.
Investigating officers are appealing for information about the incident. A police spokesman said: “The single motorcyclist was found at the side of the road at about 12.50am. “No other vehicles were thought to be involved. “We would like to hear from any witnesses who either saw the incident or saw a green Triumph motorcycle in the area shortly before the incident. “The motorcycle was coming from the direction of the city centre – perhaps someone saw the vehicle passing the petrol station, by the mini roundabout linking to Fore Street, shortly before the location of the incident.”
