Advanced motorcyclists (Devon, Cornwall and Plymouth)

Devon Advanced Motorcyclists

Registered charity no: 1080988

DAM is part of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) and is affiliated to the British Motorcycle Federation (BMF).

The principal aim of the group is to promote road safety by raising riding skills with the ultimate goal of passing the Advanced Motorcycle Test.   The Advanced Test is about making safe smooth progress with maximum hazard awareness and machine control.  It closely mirrors the techniques taught to police riders throughout the country.

We are also an active Social Club for bikers of all ages who have passed or aspire to the Advanced test, and who enjoy each other’s company on and off their bikes.

You will need your own motorcycle, which must be capable of maintaining motorway speeds (70 mph). Sports, naked, cruiser, tourer or retro; you name it we love ‘em all.

Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists

The Plymouth motorcyclists section of the Institute of Advanced Motorists – IAM
Affiliated to the IAM – group No. 1248

Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists Group, PAM, was founded in April 2005. It grew from a number of Advanced Motorcyclists who were resident in and around Plymouth and believed that a Plymouth group would serve the needs of the area. The club now has around 100 members.

Why join PAM?
Maybe you are relatively new to biking, perhaps through the Direct Access Scheme. You could be returning to biking after having some time out, or be suspicious that you may have picked up a few bad riding habits, or… you may simply be looking to take your riding skills to the next level.

If so, joining the IAM and preparing to for the Advanced Test may be just what you are looking for. With the support of your local group you will practise a well proven riding system and develop a more confident, consistent and safer riding technique.

If you live in the Plymouth area then the Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists group (PAM) is your local IAM affiliated group. PAM is run by enthusiastic and friendly volunteers and we are always interested in welcoming new people.
Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month at:
The Parkway Sports and Social Club, Ernesettle Lane, Ernesettle PL5 2EY at 7:30pm
