Woman biker dies in crash with lamppost in Plymouth

A FEMALE biker was killed after the motorcycle she was riding crashed.The 45-year-old woman – named today by police as Cryste Robinson from Staddiscombe – is understood to have been riding a Harley Davidson motorbike along Staddiscombe Road near Staddiscombe at around 7.10pm yesterday, Sunday 27th May.  Her husband Mike Robinson paid tribute to her online today. He said: “At 7pm last night my beautiful wife was killed while riding her motorcycle. I already miss her more than I can ever say, she was my whole world.”

Early reports suggest the bike collided with a lamppost around 100 metres on from the junction of Coleman Drive, close to The Staddy pub, while the vehicle was heading towards Down Thomas. Police said passers-by stopped to assist Ms Robinson shortly afterwards and paramedics were called but despite the efforts of all those present – including an off-duty police officer – Ms Robinson died at the scene. It is understood members of her family arrived at the scene shortly afterwards.

Officers from the Collision Unit at Crownhill Police Station are now carrying out a detailed investigation into the incident and anyone with information or who may have witnessed the grey motorbike in the lead-up to the incident should call police on 101 quoting police log number 751 of 27/05/12.
